So far, the new year’s been a bumpy ride. Bad news has outweighed the good. And despondency is slowly taking over.

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.
William Shakespeare
This year, especially the next few months, look sketchy. It will be difficult to predict – with certainty – the outcome of our decisions. Have they been right? And if they were wrong, would it be easier to lay the blame on destiny?

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.
Maya Angelou
I’m hesitant to change. Don’t get me wrong. I get bored very easily and need to do something different constantly. But, when it comes to the everyday, I like a routine. I guess, the fear of trying something new and failing dominates my need for change.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.
Helen Keller
With the shadows of doubt looming large, there’s little that can be done. But, I can hope to stay positive through it all. Perhaps, somethings are just meant to be.

Oh, I can relate to this so much. My year has not got off to a great start either, in fact it just feels like a continuation of last year which was very stressful. I send you warmest wishes. Beautiful truthful post.
I can totally relate to your situation. I was hoping this year would be better than the last. And it keeps getting difficult. Thanks so much for your wishes. 🙂
My pleasure. Let’s hope the year gets better, for both of us. 🙂
Thanks so much, Miriam. Comments like yours keep me going! I’m all for hope! 🙂
It’s my pleasure. Hope you’re doing well.
Yup! 🙂
I’m on the same page. My year started out badly too. The last couple of months have been an emotional roller coaster. But I’m trying to follow some of the advice & quotes in your post. Just to change my attitude & focus on looking for the sunshine in all this rain 🙂
Thanks for your comment, Kim. I can totally relate to your situation. I hope that things get better for you, and the new year doesn’t hold too many surprises! 🙂
Things are gradually heading in a positive direction. Hope your year is shaping up nicely too 🙂
Good to hear! Currently, I’m sitting on a roller coaster. It’s hard to predict the outcome of the next few weeks. I can only hope, I’d be on top. 🙂
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. It’s never easy when faced with a bumpy road ahead but hope is always a good thing 🙂
🙂 🙂
I am sorry to hear that your year isn’t all that roses and sunshine. I can relate, and these couple of months have been nothing but stress for me on the work front and personally. It is hard juggling work, writing my book, blogging, photography and personal issues. But, as Florence and the Machine once said, “It’s always darkest before the dawn”.
Good on you for trying to stay positive. When we are positive, the more we have the energy to face forwards and walk towards the light. Best wishes 🙂
It’s wonderful to see so many bloggers show their support! Thanks for the bundle of warm wishes. I love Florence and the Machine, but am pretty bad with lyrics. I tend to make my own! 🙂 So, you’re writing a book! What can I say? It’s a terrifying process. Hang in there. 🙂
Everything will work out as it should. We may not understand it at the time, but it will work itself out. I know its not easy.
Thanks a bunch! It’s wonderful to receive such positive comments. 🙂
Wonderful images and those are powerful quotes. I can totally relate to the feeling of uncertainties and the anxiety that comes with it. Hang in there, maybe its still a blur now,but I am sure it will get better..someday. Sending more & more positive vibes along your way .~Christina
Thanks Christina! I’m trying to stay positive and hopeful. And hoping that the greater scheme of things work in my favour. 🙂 Thank you so much for your positive vibes! Truly appreciate the support.
You are outmost welcome.. Hang in there..sending more positive vibes along your way.
Thanks a bunch! 🙂
I too am sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch. Keep in mind that you woke up this morning so it is a good day. A bit cliche but still true. I hope that things work out as you would like.
Thanks Robin! I do hope too. 🙂
Your half moon photo is amazing!! Love the accompanying thoughts from our famous poets/writers/people.
Thanks Sue! That’s Basil (my hubby) at work. It’s an old shot. I don’t get behind the camera too often. 🙂
I absolutely love the beautiful photos with the inspirationsl words. Thanks for sharing.
Basil (my hubby) has good days and bad days with his camera. I guess, these shots fall in the category of the former. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

I love the narration, I can also relate. Changes are scary. And I face a lot of them these days (especially since I’ve started a new job two weeks ago). Difficult to adjust really. Good luck !
It couldn’t be easy to start a new job. I’m glad your facing your fear of change with a positive mindset. Truly appreciate your comment. Helps me get over my fear of change. 🙂

Thanks Daniel! 🙂
I’m sorry to hear the start of the year wasn’t the best… but, as cliche as it may sound, lows are always followed by rises… things always improve 🙂 hope the new year brings new travels and new experiences for you to share in the blog… love your work 🙂
Thanks Alexandra! Lows are definitely followed by rises. I truly appreciate your comment. It’s wonderful to hear from you after such a long time. We’ve always loved your work and how you make the mundane seem so spectacular! Have a good week! 🙂
