The story so far… L from seeingthrough35mm invited us to participate in a 5-day monochrome photo challenge. We chose the theme, ‘People around the World’ and covered India and Japan in the first two days of the challenge. It’s time to head to a new continent and to a country we absolutely love. A haven for nature enthusiasts and a treasure trove for adventure seekers – Iceland must feature on any discerning traveller’s bucket list!
In summer, Reykjavik comes alive with music fests, parties, and cultural events. It isn’t hard to figure why, when you notice the sun shining brightly through late evening. But even if you aren’t into that stuff – evenings are perfect for short walks. The main tourist areas are always buzzing with people, but narrow alleys are great to experience a taste of local life. On one of our walks, we spotted a group of teenagers either heading back home or to a party. What’s interesting is that their stride had the same air of confidence as the teenage boys in Japan.
Iceland is great for camping and backpacking trips. And it’s always possible to intersperse the rugged countryside with some city sightseeing. Most of the popular sights are within walking distance of each other. We spotted this traveller reading his book, probably checking notes, at Hallgrímskirkja (Lutheran Church). He unwittingly prompted us to take a break – before entering the church.
As with most challenges – we’ve got to pass it on! We’d like to invite Helene from Dancing with Shadows to participate in this photo challenge. Helene’s a writer, hiker, traveller, and amateur photographer. And that’s why I find her accounts interesting. She’s yet to participate in a WordPress blogger challenge and I’m hoping this would be your first. 🙂
