A trip to Bandhavgarh National Park gives you a fair idea of what might have inspired Rudyard Kipling to write, ‘The Jungle Book’. Although, it is believed, the Pench National Park or Kanha National Park might have provided the background for his iconic work. We didn’t see Sher khan (tiger), Bagheera (black panther) or Baloo (bear); we didn’t complain. Spotted deer (Chital) scampered occasionally and sometimes were kind enough to grace us with an expressiveΒ (condescending) stare. Even in the dead silence of the forest, it seemed to be abundant with life. And the feeling of being watched never left us.
What a beautiful animal! Wonderful challenge choice!
