I can’t believe it’s December already. It’s been an interesting and challenging year so far. Our travels have taken us to culturally diverse countries, isolated locations, and stunning landscapes. It’s been a conscious effort to escape the noise, the realities of life, the things that get me down, and find comfort in the serenity of nature. Thankfully, nature never disappoints. Those rough spots and uncertainties of the future are quickly forgotten on a hike up a mountain or a quiet walk along a deserted trail. Nature is like a ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water‘ always leading you safely to the other side.
When youโre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
Iโm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just canโt be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When youโre down and out
When youโre on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
Iโll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on, silvergirl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friend
Iโm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
I’m taking a break from blogging and this will be last post for this year. Here’s wishing all of you a joyous holiday season and an exciting new year — filled with interesting experiences. Hope to see you again on the other side of 2017!
Soo beautiful! And gorgeous photographs as well!!
Thanks! ๐
Lovely memories of 2017 here. Likewise wishing you a joyous season and look forward to your return in 2018.
Thank you so much! Wishing you a wonderful 2018!
I always liked that song. Have a good break.
Thanks, Debbie! ๐
I love this song! Bridge Over Troubled Water was what I listened to growing up. Slow and soothing ๐ Lovely travel photos from over the years. Looking back, it seems like you have travelled and seen much – and that your knee is coping very well with the travels. It has been a great year following your blog. Enjoy the rest of the year and see you next year for more posts ๐
Hey Mabel! A friend of mine used to sing this song and that’s how I first heard of it. ๐ 2017 had some highs and lows in terms of travels and life in general. I’m so glad we sailed through. The knee is doing fine as long as I am cautious. ๐ Hope 2018 is a bright start for all your dreams. xo
love the looks back and enjoy the season – see you when you get back
Thanks a bunch! It’s always nice to look back at those crazy adventures, knowing that we survived each one of them. ๐ Happy 2018!
Really enjoyed the style of this post. Also agree… December is a shock to the system.
Thanks a bunch! I hope 2018 is as exciting as the last year. ๐
Beautiful set of pictures Cheryl. Good time to sit back and look back at your travels and experiences.

Thanks, Sharon! ๐
What a beautiful recap for 2017. I so would love to add Mongoli and Korea to my list but I will have to visit next time around. In the meantime, I have your lovely images to keep me dreaming. I did manage to make my way to North Vietnam but went to SaPa instead of Halong Bay (given I live on the water, the mountains called to me). Looking forward to hanging out with you in 2018. Enjoy your break
Hi Lisa! Wish you a very happy 2018 filled with adventures to wonderful places across the globe! Mongolia is definitely a dream place to visit. I still have to write two more posts on our trip. We’ve completed a year and half in Seoul! I find it so difficult to believe! ๐ SaPa was on my list, but we were out of time. Have to go back to Vietnam again.
Looking forward to seeing where your wanderlust takes you on 2018 ๐ค

I absolutely love your work and the pictures are stunning.. ๐ Every blog you write makes me feel as if I’m journeying with you…
Thanks, Hiraa! Your comment never fails to make my day. ๐
Wonderful photos and accompaniment by Paul Simon.. one of my favorite songs from the teenage years! It is very true that nature can heal almost all.. and I too seek it to escape the noise of the city, people and stress. Looks like you had a wonderfully full year of travel.
Peta
Hi Peta! The past few months have been so chaotic and our travels have taken a toll on me. In 2018, I hope to slow things down. And remind myself that every time I’m tempted to plan a trip! Here’s wishing you a wonderful New Year! ๐
