Back in the day, when Basil and I set on our maiden Euro trip, all we had was a pair of strong feet and a printed itinerary of the places or sights we wanted to explore. Did we get lost often? I’d be lying if I said we didn’t. I’ve lost count of the times we had to ask locals for directions and ended bickering on who should have paid more attention to the directions. The following year, after we bought our first car, I gifted him a GPS device for his birthday. If it could ensure, I would have a peaceful trip, without thinking of leaving him the minute I’d reach home; so be it. However, on international trips, finding routes were still dependant on trusting hand signs with locals. And as much as I love random conversations, exploring quaint streets, and hidden alleys; the thought of walking to the nearest subway station, while my feet are begging me to stop, is not one I always look forward to.

I’m amazed at how technology can change the way we travel, today. These days, it’s possible to track your route without the need for local interaction or signboards. And, for those of us, who trust blogs to figure routes, plan itineraries, and discover hidden gems; technology can save the day. That’s one of the reasons why GPSmyCity appealed to us. We’re excited to partner with them and happy to have some of our blog posts converted into apps for IOS devices!

How does the Blog2App Article Work?

GPSmyCity is designed for people who love to explore cities on foot“.

Blog2App Articles are a relatively new concept in the world of travel. And I must confess, it took me a while to figure out how GPSmyCity app truly works. I’ll try keeping it simple. Say for example, you enjoyed reading one of our blog posts, and wanted to try tracing the same route, or visit the same restaurant, or explore a hidden alleyway; what would you do? You’d need to have an internet connection or access to free Wi-Fi to check our post — on the go. It’s not always possible to remember details and when you get tired, chances are you’ll skip a turn or ignore a signboard. Personally, we rarely use internet (because of international roaming costs) when we travel and we know how iffy free Wi-Fi can get. And that’s why, GPSmyCity makes perfect sense. Once you download our article app, on your IOS device (IPhone or IPad), you wouldn’t need an internet connection to follow the route we’ve traced. And incase, you do miss a step, the app will use the GPS tracker on you phone, to ensure you get back to the main path. Some apps may even have interesting places to scout around the main trail.

Pretty cool? What did I say about technology? It can save the day.

And that’s not all. GPSmyCity partners with bloggers, like us, across multiple platforms, to ensure you will have access to a rich bank of travel articles (over 600 cities) and city walks. Each article is converted into a downloadable app. So, you can download the app whenever you have access to the internet and view it, in real time, on a trip or in a hotel room, or whilst walking on an isolated road — in the middle of nowhere. There is no cost for the download. If you do opt for an upgrade, there will be a nominal fee, a portion of which will go to the contributing author.

      1. Haha! I know, it took me 2 months to write this post. It was really difficult with all the settling down happening. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to keep up with posting too. Life has a way to get in the way. 🙂

  1. technology is not really my thing as we are trying to live a simpler life and my husband is a map addict, but it does sound great 🙂

  2. Haha this takes away all the fun of getting lost in strange cities!!

I’m not super technical and probably be more hassle than assistance for me, but its definitely a cool tool!
